What Is SC19 on the SASSA SRD Portal?
SC19 is the form code SASSA uses internally for the SRD grant’s online status system. It is not a special result, a rejection code, or a fee you need to pay — it is simply the label attached to the page every SRD applicant lands on to check their result.

What Does SC19 Actually Mean?
If you have ever checked your SRD grant status and noticed “sc19” sitting in the browser address bar, you are not alone. Thousands of people search for “SASSA SC19” or “SASSA status check 19” every month, usually after spotting the code and wondering if it means something about their application, or worse, whether the site they landed on is even real.
It is not a status. It does not mean approved, declined, or flagged. SASSA labels its internal web systems with short reference codes the same way most government IT departments do, and SC19 is simply the one attached to the SRD (Social Relief of Distress) status-checking system. You will see it in the URL no matter what your result turns out to be.
The reassuring part is this: seeing SC19 in the address bar is actually a good sign, not a bad one. It only appears on SASSA’s own domain. If a site asking for your ID number does not show srd.sassa.gov.za in the address bar, treat it as suspicious regardless of how official it looks.
For context, the SRD grant itself was introduced in May 2020 as a temporary COVID-19 relief measure, paying R350 a month to unemployed South Africans with no other income. The amount increased to R370 from April 2023, and the grant has since been extended repeatedly — most recently to 31 March 2027. SC19 is the system that has sat behind every one of those status checks since the grant began.
Still Called “R350 Status Check”?
A lot of people still search for the “SASSA R350 status check” out of habit. The grant name, portal, WhatsApp number, and USSD codes are unchanged — only the amount moved from R350 to R370. If you are looking for your R350 status, SC19 is the same system you need.
The Five Official SC19 Pages
SC19 is not a single page. It is a small group of pages under the same code, each handling a different part of the SRD process. Knowing which one you actually need saves you from bouncing between the wrong forms.
Status Check
srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status
The main page. Enter your ID and phone number to see your current and past monthly results.
Auth
srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/auth
The identity-verification step every other SC19 page routes through before showing your details.
Reconsideration
srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/reconsideration
Where you dispute a declined month. Must be submitted within 30 days of the decline.
Reconfirmation
srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/reconfirmation/auth
A periodic re-verification some applicants are asked to complete to keep an existing application active.
Cancellation
srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/cancellation
Explains what a cancelled grant means. If you did not cancel it yourself, this is where fraud gets reported.
Only Trust the Exact Domain
Every legitimate SC19 page sits under srd.sassa.gov.za — nothing before it, nothing added to it. Copycat sites frequently register lookalike domains (extra words, different endings, misspellings) and rebuild the SC19 login screen pixel for pixel to steal ID numbers. Check the address bar every single time, not just the first time.
How to Check Your Status on SC19
The process itself takes under a minute once you are on the right page.
Go directly to srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status
Type the address yourself rather than following a link from an SMS, WhatsApp forward, or social media post. This is the single biggest habit that protects you from scam sites.
Enter your 13-digit SA ID number
Use the ID number exactly as it appears on your document — no spaces, no dashes.
Enter the cellphone number linked to your application
This must be the number you originally applied with, not a newer number, even if it is the one you currently use.
Submit and read your result
The current month shows first, with previous months listed below it. If a payment date has been generated, it appears alongside an Approved result.
What Your Result Means
SC19 will return one of several possible results depending on where your application stands. Each one calls for a different next step, and we have written a full breakdown for each:
If SC19 Won’t Load or Shows an Error
SC19 handles millions of checks every month, and it shows. These are the problems people run into most often, and what actually fixes them.
The Page Times Out or Won’t Load
Traffic spikes hard between the 24th and 30th of the month, when SRD payments are batched, and again around the 10th to 15th, when results first update. Try early morning or late evening, and switch browsers if it keeps failing.
“Application Not Found”
This almost always means the ID and phone number do not match an active record together. Double-check you are entering the phone number from your original application, even if you now use a different SIM.
Stuck on the Auth Step, OTP Not Arriving
Wait a full 60 seconds before requesting a second OTP — requesting too fast can cancel the first one. If nothing arrives after two tries, your number may not be RICA-registered in your name, which will need sorting at your network provider.
The Result Looks Outdated
SC19 typically refreshes each month’s result between the 10th and 20th. Checking earlier in the month often just shows the previous month’s outcome carried over.
Checking Your Status Without SC19
If the portal is down, or you simply do not have data, SASSA offers three other official channels that pull from the same database as SC19.
WhatsApp — 082 046 8553
Save the number, send “Hi”, and follow the automated prompts for your ID and phone number. Runs 24/7 and uses data, not airtime.
USSD — No Data Needed
Short codes reported for the SRD service include *134*7737# and *120*3210#, and availability can vary slightly by network and change over time. Dial from the number linked to your application; if one code does not respond, try WhatsApp or the portal instead.
Toll-Free — 0800 60 10 11
Free from any South African network, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00. Best for issues the automated channels cannot resolve, such as a frozen profile.
In Person
Visit your nearest SASSA office with your original ID document for identity disputes, biometric verification, or anything the online channels cannot fix.
