How It WorksHow the SASSA Payment Schedule Works
SASSA staggers payments across the first three working days of each month to reduce pressure on ATMs, pay points and retailers. The standard order never changes — Older Persons first, Disability second, Children's grants third.
📅
Day 1
Older Persons Grant
War Veterans Grant
📅
Day 2
Disability Grant
Care Dependency Grant
📅
Day 3
Child Support Grant
Foster Child · Grant-in-Aid
⚠️ Public Holidays: When a payment date falls on a weekend, public holiday, or the first day of the month, SASSA moves the payment to the previous working day — meaning you receive payment early, not late.
🗓️ 4th Payment Day — Reviews & eLife Certification: SASSA now also runs a fourth payment date each month for beneficiaries flagged for a grant review or eLife Certification. If this applies to you, SASSA will notify you by SMS beforehand — you must visit your nearest SASSA office to complete the review, or your grant may be suspended in the next cycle.

Payment Not Received? What to Do if Your Payment Date Has Passed
If your expected payment date has passed and money has not reflected, follow these steps before contacting SASSA.
1
Wait 2–3 working days
Bank processing can take up to 3 working days after SASSA releases the payment. Funds are typically available from 8–9am on your payment date. If nothing shows by midday, wait until the next morning.
2
Verify your banking details
Log in to the SRD portal at srd.sassa.gov.za and confirm your banking details are correct and the account is still active. An expired or closed account will block payment.
3
Check your card status
If you use a SASSA Postbank card, confirm it has not expired. The old yellow Gold Card stopped working after the 31 August 2026 deadline — if you have not swapped yet, visit any Postbank card-replacement site with your SA ID (free of charge) or dial *120*355# to find one.
4
Call the toll-free number
Contact SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 (toll-free, Mon–Fri 8am–4pm). Have your ID number and grant type ready. You can also send "Hi" to SASSA WhatsApp on 082 054 0016.
5
Visit your nearest SASSA office
If the problem is not resolved after calling, visit your nearest SASSA office with your original ID document and grant reference number. SASSA is obligated to investigate payment failures within 5 working days.
