What Is the SRD Grant?

SASSA SRD R370 Grant — What You Need to Know Before Applying

The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is a monthly payment of R370 from SASSA for unemployed South Africans who have no other source of income or government support. It is currently approved until March 2027.

Applying is free, takes about 10 minutes online, and does not require a lawyer or agent. SASSA re-checks your eligibility every single month before releasing payment.

⚠️ Important — Read Before You Apply SASSA checks your bank account every month. If your account receives any deposit of R628 or more from any source — including money sent by family — your application will be automatically declined for that month. This includes e-wallet transfers and CashSend.
